Comedian Johnny Lever has been making his audience laugh in Hindi movies for over four decades. But often the comedian put a smile on the faces of others while dealing with problems in his personal life. Johnny and Shah Rukh Khan have collaborated in over 15 films over the years. Some of their movies together are Baazigar, Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Yes Boss and Baadshah.
In an old interview with Bollywood Hungama, Johnny said: “There were times when I was going through some personal problems and had to film a comedy scene. One of those moments was when my father had to have surgery, I was kind of dealing with it, but I had to anyway. recording a comedy sequence”
He added: “Now I don’t let my personal problems get in the way of my work, so at the time I hadn’t told anyone about this matter. I don’t know how, but Shah Rukh Khan entered the room where I was and said he heard about my father and inquired about him. Here I was getting ready for a comedy scene, so I tried to downplay the issue. But he kept saying if I needed anything I could tell him. This was during the movie Badshah.”
Johnny was born John Rao and started working in Hindustan Lever at the age of 18. He was a lover of mimicry, did his programs there and was called Johnny Lever. It later became his screen name. In an interview a few years ago, Johnny Lever also talked about his breakthrough in movies, which happened in 1980. He also revealed that he wanted to run away during the shooting of his 1981 film Yeh Rishta Na Toote because he was scared.
Johnny Lever has worked in many movies and has also won many awards for his work. He starred in films like Tezaab, ChaalBaaz, Khiladi, Baazigar, Raja Hindustani, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Dilwale and many others.
