Vijay Varma has said that after seeing his latest outing, Darlings, his mother was stressed because she thought no girl would want to marry him after seeing the Netflix movie. the movie stars Alia Bhatti and Shefali Shah, and has Vijay as an abusive, abusive husband. Vijay is widely appreciated for his portrayal of the negative character Hamza in Darlings. Vijay also became famous with negative character when he collaborated with Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan in Pink by Shoojit Sircar.

Vijay told ANI: “I get all kinds of reactions after the release of Darlings; some say we hate Hamza, some praise my acting skills…but the funniest one was my mom. She watched the movie and called me in panic. She was scared that no one would marry her son now (laughs) I get where she came from but I laughed so hard when I heard her reaction I had to calm her down and reassure her that this won’t happen I secretly hope not .”

In another interview prior to Darlings’ release, Vijay had revealed that his parents weren’t overly impressed with his success, but added that they are now confident he won’t die hungry.

Darlings, directed by debutant Jasmeet K Reen, is a dark comedy with a strong take on domestic violence. Speaking to PTI, Vijay had called the role challenging and said he enjoyed working with Alia and Shefali on the film.

Subsequently, Vijay has lined up some interesting films. These include Sujoy Ghosh’s Devotion of Suspect X next to it Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonakshi Sinha actor Dahaad. He will also be featured in the third episode of Ali Fazal’s popular web show, Prime Video original Mirzapur.
