Chris Evans recently lent his voice to Pixar’s new film Lightyear, which stars the character of Buzz Lightyear, the movie character who inspired the Toy Story version of Buzz. In the Toy Story franchise, Buzz has been voiced by Tim Allen, and since the release of Lightyear, there has been discussion about why Evans replaced Allen in the film.
Recently Tom Hanks played the lead character of Woody in the Toy Story franchise opened over light year to replace Tim Allen. Speaking about how his new movie Elvis would compete against Lightyear, he said, “What do you think? I actually wanted to compete against Tim Allen and then they didn’t let Tim Allen do it. Don’t understand.”
Speaking further about Chris Evans voiced Buzz in the film, Hanks told the Independent: “Yeah, yeah, I know. Here’s the thing: I want to go back to the theater with a bunch of strangers and leave with something in common. That’s what I want to do and, go see a movie with [Allen] – I look forward.”
Tim Allen himself also weighed in on Lightyear recently and talked about how it was a completely different story that had nothing to do with the toys he plays in the franchise. The actor while speaking to Extra claimed that while it is a “wonderful story”, it is unrelated to the toy. The actor also revealed that he “stayed away” from the subject of Lightyear because it isn’t about his version of Buzz.
