Thor: Love and Thunder was recently released in theaters and the film that reprises Natalie Portman’s role as Jane Foster also stars Tessa Thompson returning as Valkyrie in the movie. Given the way Marvel has developed spin-off shows for their popular, favorite characters, many believe that Thompson’s Valkyrie is also on the list of those who deserve to have their own show.
In a recent interview with Extra, Thompson was asked the same thing. With her character playing the role of King of New Asgard in Thor: Love and Thunder, she was asked if there’s any chance we’ll see her do a solo project like Valkyrie soon. Speaking to Extra, Tessa said, “I don’t know. I love playing the character, so if I get the chance to play her in any form, I’d love to.”
Another aspect of Thompson’s character that fans are eager to discover through Marvel is her queer identity as well. Earlier in an interview with Pinkvilla, where she was asked about the possibility of a Captain Marvel and Valkyrie romance, as she will be part of The Marvels. Speaking about how her character’s love life has been the focus thus far, she said, “She hasn’t had much time to focus too fully on her love life since she’s been tempted with many royal duties.”
While many believe there is a lot to explore when it comes to Valkyrie’s character and fans would love it if Thompson led a solo project to bring attention to her character. As for Thor: Love and Thunder, the movie will see her team up with Thor by Chris Hemsworthand Portman’s Mighty Thor to take on the deadliest of villains, Gorr, the god-butcher played by Christian Bale.
