Marvel’s latest superhero movie Thor love and thunder has crossed a number of significant milestones at the box office, both in India and globally. The Chris Hemsworthstarrer has become the fifth Marvel movie to earn more than 100 crore at the Indian box office. Globally, it’s all set to exceed $700 million and become the highest-grossing Thor movie ever, replacing its predecessor Thor Ragnarok. According to a Marvel Studios release, the producers of the film, Thor Love and Thunder, are the second Hollywood film after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to exceed Rs 100 crore this year. Both films are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Other Marvel movies to be more than deserved being 100 crore in India Avengers Infinity WarAvengers Endgame and Spider-Man No Way Home.

The film also continued its strong run in the West. According to a Forbes report, the fourth Thor film made $7.6 million in its fifth weekend in the North American market, bringing its 31-day draw in the region to $316.1 million. Global earnings for this period are $698.9 million, with analysts predicting it will exceed $700 million on Tuesday.

Thor Ragnarok has been the highest grossing Thor film ever with a lifetime revenue of $854 million. However, Love and Thunder has not been released in Russia and China, unlike its predecessor, and if those numbers are adjusted, Ragnaork’s profit is $712 million, which Love and Thunder is expected to surpass within a week. The overall figure may still be out of reach, but trading experts say the film is a huge success, given the constraints of the pandemic.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor Love and Thunder released in theaters July 7 in India and July 8 worldwide. The film, part of MCU’s Phase 4, also stars Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale in his MCU debut as the film’s villain.
