Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder sees Chris Hemsworth returns as the God of Thunder for his fourth solo MCU film, and also stars Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale as the villain Gorr. The film has received mostly positive reviews from critics around the world.
According to a report in BoxOfficeIndia.com: “The film’s two-day collections are good at” 30 crore net.” However, the report added that the drop on the second day was unusually high and a course correction is needed for the remainder of the extended weekend. “Thor: Love and Thunder saw a big drop in collections on the second day when the film was collected 11.50 crore net. A 25-30% drop was on the expected lines, but here’s the 35% drop plus as all the circuits for the movie have gone down,” the report read.
In addition, a report in Deadline stated that the film made $48.6 million worldwide in its first two days. This includes the India figures of about $4 million. The song puts it ahead of other recent hits like Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World: Dominion, but behind Marvel’s other big hit this year: Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
Another Deadline report estimated the film’s Friday revenue in North America at about $70 million, including $29 million in Thursday’s paid previews. This brings the film’s total worldwide gross to approximately $120 million. Trade analysts predict it will exceed $250 million this weekend.
Thor: Love and Thunder is part of MCU’s Phase 4 and features Natalie Portman‘s return to the franchise and her first turn as a superhero. The film also features cameos from Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Bradley Cooper.
