Taapsee and Anurag have collaborated in three films so far: Manmarziyaan, Saand Ki Aankh and Dobaaraa. Manmarziyaan (2018), directed by Anurag, also stars Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. Saand Ki Aankh (2019) is directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Reliance Entertainment and Nidhi Parmar. The film also features Bhumi Pednekar and Prakash Jha.

In an interview with Indian Express, Taapsee said: “I told him I want to be a star and he also called me names. When Anurag and I fought after the adaptation of Dobaaraa, he said, ‘Why are you working with me? If you want to be a star, work with Rohit Shetty!’ But not everyone has the same formula. I want to take a different path to stardom. If Rohit Shetty doesn’t give me a chance, what am I supposed to do? As an actor, there’s only so much I can do. I’m an actor who wants to be a star. I did what I could to do my job But I’m not the director, not the producer of the movie. It’s teamwork in the end. Something definitely went wrong somewhere that didn’t work. I’m not a star yet, otherwise I would have I attracted visitors, however the film was.”

She added: “I definitely didn’t like Anurag’s movies. I can’t watch those kinds of dark movies… The only movies I saw in the cinema were DevD and Gangs of Wasseypur before entering the Hindi film industry. The kind of movies he used to make didn’t excite me to watch them because ‘Itna dil pe patthar rakh ke (with a heavy heart)… pata nahi (don’t know) what’s on the screen will be, what kind of language would be used’ I didn’t want to go and watch! I thought Wasseypur was funny, that’s why I liked it. Unlike all its gory stuff.’

Taapsee will next be seen in Anurag’s upcoming film Dobaaraa. The story of the film revolves around how a woman gets the chance to save the life of a 12-year-old boy who witnessed a death during a thunderstorm that happened 25 years ago, by connecting through television during a similar storm. in the present . The film, which will be released worldwide on August 19, also stars Pavail Gulati.

In addition, Taapsee will also be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki alongside Shah Rukh Khan. She was last seen in the biopic Shabaash Mithu, based on the life of cricketer Mithali Raj.
