Shah Rukh Khan’s film Dunki’s DOP (Director of Photography/ Cinematographer) Amit Roy has said he quit the film after creative differences with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani.
Dunki of Shah Rukh Khan was announced in April 2022 Taapsee Pannu, went on floors this year and their film’s first schedule was recently wrapped. But in a new interview, Dunki’s DOP (Director of Photography) Amit Roy has revealed that he had quit the project amid “creative differences” with the film’s director. Rajkumar Hirani. Amit started his career as a cameraman with Ishq Vishk (2003). Later he worked in movies like Dil Maange More!!! (2004), Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag (2007), Sarkar Raj (2008), Deewana Main Deewana (2013) and many more.
In an interview with Etimes, when Amit was asked if he had left Dunki, he replied: “Yes, I don’t do Dunki anymore. I shot for 18-19 days and stopped. Raju Hirani and I had some creative differences. We got both couldn’t see it from the same angle. But let me tell you the parting was very amicable. We both sat down and then I stopped. Honestly, I didn’t want it to reach a phase of friction.”
He added: “It happens sometimes. I had recorded a song in Sanju for Hirani, the Baba Bolta Hai Bas Ho Gaya song. We had a great time then. I also did a few advertisements for him. But you see , an ad is a collaborative effort where the client’s vision matters too. But when it comes to a movie, it’s the director’s vision. The photos I’ve shot are preserved.”
Backed by JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Dunki will hit theaters on December 22, 2023. Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee the film will also have Boman Irani in the lead role.
In addition to Dunki, Shah Rukh also has Pathaan from Siddharth Anand and Jawan from Atlee in the pipeline.
