Sonali Bendre is undoubtedly one of the most popular actresses in the Indian film industry. She ruled the 1990s Bollywood with films Hum Saath Saath Hain, Sarfarosh, Diljale and Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hain. Meanwhile, the actress opened up in a recent conversation that being “skinny” was never a requirement in the 1990s. She said that “lusty” was considered the standard of beauty back then. However, the actress recalled that she was skinny ashamed. Bendre also opened up about her stage of cancer recovery.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Bendre said: “Being skinny certainly wasn’t the standard of beauty, so lust was the standard of beauty, and I was told you just weren’t woman enough if you weren’t voluptuous, you know what it should be not be.” She continued: “I agree that body shaming shouldn’t play a role in our society and especially with little girls and the kind of ideas they grow up with and the crazy diets that people do. People forget it’s not holistic.”

Recalling her cancer recovery, the actor said: “I wanted to do this shoot and I wanted to do it with this scar because I was afraid to show it. I didn’t know if I could go out without a wig. afraid of it crush it there I started what was the scary part as you know the bloated face, the scar and the baldness and especially when the hair is just starting to come out it’s just the ugliest face.

Bendre made her OTT debut in web series “The Broken News”a Hindi adaptation of the popular 2018 British series Press.
