Shah Rukh Khan and Taapse have already finished Dunki’s first schedule after it went on floors in April. Taapsee, who previously starred in Shah Rukh’s 2019 production Badla, spoke about her journey from limited interaction with him during the film to starring opposite him in Dunki.

She told PTI: “If you eventually get the chance to work with him (Shah Rukh), it will be the golden opportunity. And combined with the fact that it will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, whose movies are classics, doesn’t get any better. I don’t know how I’ll ever get it up again.”

Taapsee added: “He is from Delhi, the same place as me, started all over again. I don’t miss the opportunity to tell him every time that he is someone we consider very personal. Even before I met him, his journey felt too personal for the way he started and built an empire for himself.” She also said of working with him on Badla, “From there to making a movie with him as a co-star, it’s really big.”

Backed by JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Dunki will hit theaters on December 22, 2023. After Shah Rukh announced the film with a video in April, Taapsee tweeted: “Yeah, it’s hard to make it here, and it’s harder when you’re all alone, but then a superstar once said ‘agar kisi cheez ko shiddat se chaho to puri kayanat tumhe usse milane me lag jati hai (if you desire something with all your heart, the whole universe conspires to do it for you)” cheers to honesty, hard work and perseverance. Nearly 10 saal low (it took 10 years) but finally ‘All is Well’.”

In addition to Dunki, Shah Rukh also has Pathaan from Siddharth Anand and Jawan from Atlee in the pipeline. Taapsee can then be seen in Shabaash Mithu, a biopic about the former Indian skipper Mithali Raj, in which she plays the lead role. The film hits theaters on July 15.
