After Kangana Ranaut, Saswata Chatterjee reacted to Dhaakad’s failure at the box office despite the large production budget. He also recalled how the film was removed in theaters shortly after its release.
After Kangana Ranaut, actor Saswata Chatterjee came forward to defend his film Dhaakad. In the film, Saswata appeared in a supporting role alongside Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta. Commenting on the film’s failure at the box office, Saswata said he doesn’t understand why the film didn’t work. (Read also: Kangana Ranaut defends herself after Dhaakad’s failure at the box office†
When asked about responding to Dhaakad failing to impress the audience despite being a major production, Saswata Chatterjee told News18. “No, it has had no impact. It clearly feels bad. It was a big project. It was removed from cinemas before I could watch it. Still, it was a massive project, from the action to the soundtrack. So it was strange to me too and why it didn’t work.”
A few days ago, Kangana had said that Dhaakad is the victim of ‘negative PR’. After film producer Deepak Mukut denied reports of selling his office to repay investors, Kangana wrote on Instagram: “My producer @deepakmukut has not sold his office. He even said he got all his fees back, but negative PR won’t stop. …if you want to attack Himmat toh rakho saamne se aane ki (Have some courage to fight)… Chillar mafia.’ She also shared a screenshot of a website that lists movies like Radhe Shyam, Gangubai Kathiawadi, JugJugg Jeeyo, and 83 as box office flops. “Every day I wake up to hundreds of articles where Dhaakad is a flop…and nobody has it about these major disasters… a specific reason?” she said.
Dhakad is directed by Razneesh Ghai. On opening day, the action movie earned less than 1 crore at the counter. Later, PTI’s movie retail sources suggested that the film had been removed by distributors due to extremely low audience attendance.”
