Sachin shared the photo, writing: “Congratulations, Ranveer! Have a great year ahead. We found this photo of us… Any idea when this was clicked?’ Sachin is wearing a blue shirt and black jacket in the photo while Ranveer is wearing a white shirt with hair falling almost to his shoulders. Jagjit Singh is dressed in formal attire: a white shirt, tie and formal trousers.
The cricketer’s fans were delighted that Sachin posted such a rare photo. “Can’t recognize him at all,” wrote one. Others wanted Ranveer Singh on his birthday in the comments.
Ranveer played in 83, based on India’s World Cup win in 1983, released last year. Prior to the shooting of the film, Ranveer had told Sachin all about his preparation. Reciting what he told him in their chat, he told CNN News 18 in 2018: “The most challenging is just around the corner because in January I’m going to train to bowl like Kapil Dev. That’s going to be hard. I have to tell you the story I went to Lord’s to watch a test match It rained all day and not a single ball was bowled In the box happened to be Sachin Tendulkar I was lucky enough to have some time with him I told him that I’m making this movie and I’m playing Kapil Dev I told him I’m going to do all the homework and I’m going to see and accent everything but I think the bowling would be the hardest part And he had like – oh, are you going to bowl yourself? He thinks it’s going to be tough too.”
Ranveer’s performance in the film was praised by critics, although the film did not perform as well as expected at the box office. His upcoming releases include Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus.
