In July, Ranveer had posed nude for Paper Magazine. The photos were first shared by the magazine on social media and a day later, Ranveer also posted them on his social media accounts. Following this, an NGO and another person filed FIRs against the actor alleging that he had shared “obscene” content on social media and that the photos had hurt women’s feelings and insulted their modesty.
According to PTI, the actor will be called to the police station on August 22 to “participate in the investigation”, a Mumbai Police official said. Chembur police station staff in the city visited the actor’s residence on Friday to message him to participate in the investigation, but were told he was not in Mumbai, the official said. Ranveer later told police he would return on August 16. The notice will be served on him that day, and he will be summoned on August 22 to take a statement, the official added.
In the much-discussed photos, Ranveer took various poses on a Turkish carpet, most of them wearing nothing. Although he was criticized by a few people who thought the photos were indecent, many fans and Ranveer’s Bollywood colleagues also defended him. Among them were Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan and many more.
Ranveer will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus with Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde. The film, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, is slated to release around Christmas 2022. In addition, Ranveer also features Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starring Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. The film is all set to hit theaters on February 11, 2023.
