Ranbir Kapoor will soon be on screen for the first time in nearly four years. And it will be in a drastically different avatar. Ranbir’s upcoming movie Shamshera is a masala action entertainer where he plays a bandit in the 19th century. Needless to say, it’s very different from any role the actor has played. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Ranbir explained why he chose such a different role and film. “In the beginning, as an actor, when you hear the story of a movie, you instinctively decide if you want to be part of the story if it captivates you, if you think it’s going to captivate a large audience and then the work follows. , ” he said.

Talking more about shamshera, he admitted that he expected the public to have some resistance to his changed image. He said: “But when a movie like Shamshera comes out, it comes with a lot of responsibility and you have to make it look believable. Like you said, since people have seen me in a certain image for so long, this is probably a genre that people won’t necessarily accept me easily, but I think the job is to work hard so that the audience experiences the film, forget about the actor’s previous work, and that they understand the characters and the story they are looking at that moment.”

Shamshera, directed by Karan Malhotra, also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. The film is set in the 19th century in the fictional city of Kaza in India. The film tells the story of a warrior tribe who are captured, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian General Shudh Singh (Sanjay Dutt). It will hit theaters on July 22.
