Ranbir Kapoor is one of the biggest movie stars that Bollywood has revered. He has been in the entertainment industry for almost a decade and a half and has been a part of some of the most iconic films such as Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Barfi, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Rajneeti and most recently Sanju. He will be back on the screens after more than 4 years with Shamshera and has also been actively working on other feature film projects, due out next year.

Ranbir, in a recent interaction with the Tamil host Dhivyadharshini Neelakandan, shared on her YouTube channel ‘House Of DD’ about his admiration for actors such as Vijay Sethupathi and Dhanush, about his film choices and his approach to his profession. DD asked Ranbir why for much of his career he didn’t play the massive or the happy-go-lucky characters and rather played flawed or closer to the reality characters, and whether it was a conscious decision. To this, Ranbir said, “It’s a mix of things, starting with the opportunities you get. When I was younger, the kinds of roles I was involved in were like Wake Up Sid, Barfi and Rockstar. In fact, Shamshera is a larger than life character and a first for me. As an actor your job is to reinvent yourself and not get stuck in a typecast. Shamshera is a movie that my audience probably didn’t expect from me and I “I’m really looking forward to the release and the audience reaction. But I’ll keep changing it. Probably I’ll go back to what I was doing. It’s an actor’s duty to keep the audience engaged and surprised.” From what Ranbir has said, his fans are in for an absolute treat.

Ranbir Kapoor will next be seen in Yash Raj Film’s historical epic, shamshera, in which Sanjay Dutt and Vani Kapoor play together. The movie is directed by Karan Malhotra. After that, he will star in Dharma Productions’ mythological fantasy drama Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring his wife Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni. He will be seen next year in the romantic drama with Shraddha Kapoor directed by Luv Ranjan on Holi and after that he will finish his year with Animal, from Sandeep Reddy Vanga, one of the highly anticipated movies of next year. The film will also star Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna and is set to be released on Independence Day 2023.
