Rajkummar Rao currently getting ready for his next movie Hit: The first case with Sanya Malhotra. The actor was last seen in Badhaai Do, which received mixed reviews but was also largely appreciated by the public. In a recent interview with India Today, the actor opened up about a certain genre of movies that seem to be working at the box office right now. Southern movies like Pushpa, KGF 2 and now Vikram seem to have taken the box office by storm in recent months.
Commenting on these mega action thrillers courting audiences, Rajkummar said: “No one knows the formula of a hit movie, you have to keep trying and then leave it to chance. I haven’t really thought about why Southern movies doing it right, maybe because it’s good movies, the hard work shows. But I believe cinema goes through phases, at one point we were recording songs in Switzerland, then we started telling stories about small towns, and now it’s It’s time for bigger-than-life cinema that the South offers.”
However, the Newton actor admits that his priorities lie elsewhere. Rajkummar added: “But as an actor I’d rather make movies I can be proud of, not necessarily something that works. As long as my producers don’t lose money, I can keep telling stories. I’d rather make movies I’ll be proud of them.” I don’t want to be part of a herd. It’s okay if my films don’t bring in Rs 100 crore at the box office.”
In his upcoming movie Hit: the first case, Rajkummar Rao will be seen as a researcher alongside Sanya Malhotra. The film will hit theaters on July 15, 2022.
