Madhavan commented on the film’s growth, sharing a screenshot of the news article, writing, “Wowwwweeee.” According to the report, the film previously had a 9.2 IMDb rating, which has now been improved. The official credit of the film on Sunday, the third day at the counter, has yet to be released.
Rocketry on its first deserved day 65 lakh net at the domestic box. Trending upward, it doubled its daily gross on Saturday and turned into a business of 1.3 million dollars. According to reports, the film was expected to open low and grow through word of mouth, similar to filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Fileswhich also had a low start but later managed to become one of the first Bollywood movies to hit the 300 crore barrier during the pandemic.
Rocketry has been released simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and English. Apart from these, it was also released with dubbed versions in other Indian languages. In the movie, Madhavan plays the famous rocket scientist Nambi Narayanan, who faced espionage charges throughout his career, portraying how he fought them. It also marks a cameo appearance of Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya.
The Hindustan Times review of the film read: “The audience may not categorize Rocketry: The Nambi Effect as a massive commercial potboiler and only suitable for festivals, but it’s time you freed yourself from these expectations, because this movie is definitely worth all your time and money.”
