Pooja Hegde has an enviable array of films next. But getting to this stage hasn’t been a rosy path — she’s had her own share of downs. The actor is not afraid to talk about it.

“My highest point was when I had six hit movies in a row, and that was great. The lowest point would be the start of my career. It’s not that one movie got off the ground and didn’t look back. It was like a movie didn’t do well, then there was a year where I didn’t have a job, and then I didn’t get the kind of movies I wanted to make. When I got that, they didn’t work, and then a film finally worked for me in Telugu. It’s been great ever since,” said the 31-year-old, who has appeared in films such as Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Beast.

She calls it a roller coaster ride, which was fun too. Ask if she is attached to the box office collections of her films, and she denies. “Not at all. I feel like every movie has its own destiny. The moment I start to get attached to the box office, tomorrow if a movie doesn’t do well, it would affect me. So you don’t have to go through the let it influence success or failure”, says Hegde.

She recently shot for her movie with Salman Khan, and Cirrkus with Ranveer Singh is due out in December. In Telugu she makes a movie with Mahesh Babu. Does she see this as the best phase of her career? She says: “I don’t want to see it that way, but rather as the most blessed phase of my career. I still feel like I still have a long way to go, I want to make different kinds of movies, there are a lot of dream directors I want to work with. There’s a lot to say as an actor, performer, a lot more needs to be done to call it my best stage. When you feel like a newcomer, you always feel more hungry. That’s what I always want to be.”
