Kiara Advanic has proven her mettle time and again as a trustworthy face in B-town. After being a part of the most watched Hindi film of 2019, Kabir Singh, and the most successful OTT release of 2021, Shershaah, she has kept the momentum after the Covid-19 pandemic, by being part of two films which played a major role in the box office revival namely Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and now JugJugg Jeeyo. However, her role in Kabir Singh received rather mixed reviews. In her latest interview, she opened up about her controversial role in the Shahid Kapoor starrer.

When Kabir Singh was released, there were many discussions. While one critic wrote, “Her character is more problematic than Kabir Singh.” Another wrote: “Does she not have a desk at all? Why should she be that modest girl who lets the man run over?’ To this, in her interview with Grazia, Kiara gave a firm answer. She indicated that as an actor you always want to be versatile. She also added that she didn’t think she could let her judgments get in the way of any character who is gray. “If I play a killer in my next movie, will I be one? It’s hypocritical to praise actors who otherwise play a shade of gray and then criticize them for playing a gray shade of a normal character,” Kiara emphasized.

to this, Kiara also added that she did not believe her character of Preeti tolerated Kabir’s toxic masculinity and his problematic behavior. However, there was one lesson she learned.

“Love has always been perfect and ambitious for Bollywood,” she said. She said Preeti left him in Kabir Singh after resorting to violence. But when she finally got back to him, it turned out that love often replaces everything else, and all relationships are complicated. “The only thing that will lead you to forgiveness is love. So, in a nutshell, that’s Kabir Singh for those who resonated with the film and me,” she concluded her reply.
