Jaya Bachchan once criticized Karan Johar’s hosting skills and questioned him for speaking too loudly on stage. Karan said he was just trying to be energetic.
Filmmaker Karan Johar is often seen hosting awards shows. Although his hosting skills are usually praised by fans and celebrities, he once received the worst criticism from actor-politician Jaya Bachchan for speaking too loudly on stage. Karan is also known for hosting his popular celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan. (Read also: Karan Johar confesses to telling SOTY actors in advance rapid-fire questions†
Karan now returns with the seventh season of Coffee With Karan on Disney+ Hot Star. Alia will be featured in the show’s first episode. Alia’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani co-star Ranveer Singh will join her.
When asked about a reminder of the worst criticism of his hosting skills, Karan Johar told Pinkvilla: “That I talk too loudly when I’m on stage even though there is a microphone. This Jay (Jaya Bachchan) my aunt once told me. She said, ‘Karan, you’re on the microphone, why are you yelling?’ I was like trying to be energetic. She said you have a microphone and that’s what it’s for, you don’t have to yell when you’re talking.”
Speaking of the show, Karan recently said that Koffee With Karan has been subjected to ridicule, trolling on social media and causing controversy in the Bollywood industry. He told PTI: “There was a lot of hate on social media towards Bollywood at one point and Koffee with Karan popped up as one of the targets… But I knew even then that this is all virtual, it’s not real. It’s not really the truth because why would Disney Hotstar want to do the show, why would actors want to be on the show?”
“Why should I still be interested in it? I think we were all on the same page. And so we realized that all this negative chatter was just that — it was a mirage. It didn’t really exist. None at all,” he added. The new season will premiere on Thursday.
