The video was shared by a Twitter user with the caption: “Kal Ho Na Ho…friend stays forever… @USNavy band captivates with popular Bollywood song. Over dinner hosted by US Secretary of the Navy @SECNAV .”

Karan shared the video on Twitter, writing, “And the song lives on.” He also tagged Shah Rukh Khan, lyricist Javed Akhtar, composers Shankar Ehsaan Loy and director Nikkhil Advani in the post.

The title song Kal Ho Naa Ho was sung by Sonu Nigam. The film also starred Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth and Reema Lagoo. Some of his fans pointed out that the filmmaker should also mention singer Sonu Nigam. Many others cheered for Shah Rukh, who played a cancer patient in the film.

In an online interaction, Shah Rukh had commented on a video of a little girl crying as he watched him die on screen, saying he never showed his death scene to his children Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan. He wrote, “I never showed my kids the ending of Kal Ho Naa Ho. Karan did a special edit where the movie ends before I fly away.”

In an interview with Hindustan Times last year, Nikkhil Advani revealed that even Shah Rukh hated his death scene. “Shah Rukh absolutely hated the death scene of Kal Ho Naa Ho. He kept saying, ‘You are too disrespectful and you don’t respect it,'” he said.
