Shortly after the news of Shinzo’s death, Anupam Chero recalled him in his last tweet. “Deeply saddened and shocked by the assassination of former Prime Minister of Japan #ShinzoAbe! The government of India has announced a day of mourning to honor the former prime minister. “As a sign of our deepest respect for former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, a day of national mourning will be celebrated on July 9, 2022,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

“During my recent visit to Japan, I had the opportunity to meet Mr Abe again and discuss many matters. He was witty and astute as always. I didn’t know this would be our last meeting. My sincere condolences to his family and the Japanese people,” he added.

“Shinzo Abe was in a state of cardiac arrest when he was taken to the hospital,” Hidetada Fukushima, a professor of emergency medicine, Nara Medical University Hospital, said at a news conference. He also confirmed that Shinzo’s death was “due to blood loss.” Meanwhile, police arrested 41-year-old Yamagami Tetsuya, a former member of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, who shot the former prime minister.
