Johnny Depp was “deliberately” and “maliciously” vilified by his ex-wife Amber Heard, according to a new report, according to her insurance company. Amber’s insurance company is reportedly refusing to pay for damages the actor owes her ex-husband following their high-profile libel lawsuit. According to the report, the insurance company is suing Amber heard so that it can be relieved of any obligation to pay for her defense in the recent defamation lawsuit against ex-husband Johnny. The report added that US-based company Amber is also suing so it won’t have to pay costs from pending lawsuits. If Amber appeals further in court or has to pay the damages, Amber was ordered to pay Johnny after the verdict of the trial was handed down.

New York Marine and General Insurance Company filed a lawsuit against Amber in the US District Court for the Central District of California on Friday, lawandcrime.com reported. The report added that Amber had a $1 million liability policy with the company, which would have allowed her to pay some of the damages she owes Johnny. However, the insurance company could refuse the payment if Amber committed ‘willful’ and ‘malicious’ misconduct. Amber’s insurance coverage was from July 2018 to July 2019. During that time, Amber wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post, saying she was “a public figure representing domestic violence.”

In the lawsuit it filed against Amber, New York Marine and General Insurance Company, it reportedly said that California’s insurance law provides that while an insurance company may be liable for the negligence of an insured, “an insurer is not liable for a loss caused by the intentional act of the insured’. The company added that Amber had acted on purpose, in other words. Therefore, it should not compensate Amber.

It was previously reported that Amber’s attorneys wanted a Virginia court to order a new trial in the defamation lawsuit against Johnny, as there was an incorrect juror on the jury during the trial. Johnny and Amber have both accused each other of domestic violence. After Johnny sued Amber for defamation over her 2018 article, Amber sued Johnny for $100 million in 2021.
