While his father, actor Anil Kapoor, and sister, Sonam K Ahuja, are mainstream movie actors, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor chose not to go down the same path. The actor has done unconventional projects and is proud of the way his career has developed so far. “I see the same repackaged, reworked version of most movies. I think they’re really boring and all the actors in that format are interchangeable (mainstream cinema). There’s nothing new about it. It’s a cycle of the same, with here and there a few adjustments,” said Thar, the 31-year-old last seen in the film.
Harsh says there’s no shortage of good content, but topics like this get bogged down or go to the “bigger stars”. The actor explains: “Sometimes such films (films with unconventional storylines) are not even shot. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018) and Thar are the kind of films that make few compromises in terms of creativity. That makes them stand out.”
Being particular about the kind of projects he draws, the actor, who started his career with Mirzya (2016) by director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, has only made a handful of films so far. “I’m not the kind of actor who has to do back-to-back projects. It takes all my movies time, because they are not typical Bollywood movies. So it takes perseverance. I’m trying to put together some really ambitious stuff,” he ends.
