Choreographer Geeta Kapur on Wednesday shared a black and white photo on her Instagram handle. The photo featured filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan along with Geeta, who shared the photo on the occasion of Guru Purnima and thanked Farah for her mentorship. Geeta Kapur started her journey in Bollywood after joining Farah Khan’s dance troupe as a teenager. She later assisted her in such films as Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho, Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Na.

Last year, Geeta revealed on a reality show why she calls Farah her mother. She said: “When I used to go to a work, photo shoot or event, my mother always traveled with me. However, after I started working with her (Farah Khan), we had to travel a lot abroad and my mother was able to I didn’t travel with me at the moment. But Farah took care of me like a mother and I felt that motherly love and protection, since then I have started to call her ‘mama’ from my heart.”

Farah replied, ‘Once, at the airport, I looked really pretty in these jeans and top. But she came in and yelled ‘mama, mama’ from behind, leaving everyone in shock.”

Farah made her directorial debut in 2004 with Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen and Suniel Shetty starrer Main Hoon Na. She later directed films like Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Happy New Year. She also hosted celebrity talk show Tere Mere Beach Mein. Later she became a judge in the reality TV series Indian Idol – first and second season – Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star, Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega and Dance India Dance Li’l Masters.
