The Flash Star Ezra Miller eventually broke his silence amid the ongoing controversy when the actor opened up about dealing with “complex mental health issues” and also apologized to fans. In a statement shared by the actor’s representative with Variety, Miller spoke of their troubling behavior that has led to legal issues and allegations of abuse against them.
Speaking about seeking help for their mental health issues, Ezra said in the statement: “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I suffer from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I apologize to everyone for being alarmed and angry about my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to return to a healthy, safe and productive phase in my life.”
The actor, who is non-binary and uses she and she pronouns, has been popular for playing the DC Comics Character Barry Allen aka The Flash in the DCEU movies. Amid the actor’s ongoing controversies, there has been much talk about whether Miller’s upcoming DC solo movie, The Flash, would be shelved, though it appears to be on track and expected to release in March 2023. Recently, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, David Zaslav also described it as “amazing.”
Miller’s statement comes on the heels of the recent burglary charges against him in Vermont where the actor is said to have stolen bottles of alcohol. Among other controversies, the actor hit his two arrests in Hawaii this year, one for disorderly conduct and harassment and another for second-degree assault.
