While Taapsee Pannu is promoting Srijit Mukherji’s Shabaash Mithu, she has also started shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki with Shah Rukh Khan. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla recently, the actress told how much she looks up to the superstar actor. “I have a special admiration, which I don’t know how it will become even bigger than what I have for him. But also because we are both from the same city, I have a certain affinity with him because of that,” says Taapsee.
Continuing to talk about their similar journey, the Pink actress adds: “Starting from scratch, being an outsider, yes. That way, yes. It’s just that I’ve told him that he’s the benchmark or the person every outsider, especially those from Delhi, looks up to.”
taapsee explains further: “When you work with people like him, or superstars like him, you realize the meaning of the word stardom or star(s). Paanch saal se koi foto nai aayi hai, but one move of him causes a storm everywhere. His wins are personal, his losses are personal – that’s stardom to me. That’s stardom. Not what we think the star is.”
In addition to Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee PannuDunki also has Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. After much of the shooting at the Filmcity studio in Mumbai, the team will soon be heading to Budapest and London for their international schedule.
Meanwhile, her upcoming biographical sports drama Shabaash Mithu, in which she plays cricketer Mithali Raj, is out on July 15.
