Dharmendra on Monday took a trip down memory lane. The veteran actor shared a throwback video as his film Mera Gaon Mera Desh was completed 51 years after its release. On Instagram, Dharmendra posted a clip featuring scenes from the film and interviews where he and his son, actor Bobby Deol, talked about the film. The video started with Dharmendra speaking a line in the film. After that, the actor was also seen saying in an interview in Hindi, “I’ve made a lot of movies with Vinod. Mera Gaon Mera Desh was a very big hit.” While performing stunts in the film, Dharmendra also said in the background of the video, “I always did my own stunts, never used a duplicate.”
As the video continued, Dharmendra was seen lip-syncing a song with Asha Parekh as they sat on a bench in the reality show Indian Idol 11 (2019). They were also seen laughing and laughing. Asha wore a white sari and matching blouse, while Dharmendra wore a gray shirt, half jacket and trousers. In the video, Bobby Deol also said in an old interview, “Mera Gaon Mera Desh, it’s one of my dad’s favorite movies.”
Dharmendra shared the clip and captioned the post: “Friends, with love (two hearts emoji). Some fond memories.” Commenting on the video, one fan wrote: “The most handsome actor ever on the Indian screen.” Another person said, “Hail to one of the most beautiful, sweetest people in the world…our dear Dharam Ji, I hope to see you in real life; love and respect you, sir.” Several fans called it their “favorite movie.”
Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971) is an action drama directed by Raj Khosla and written by Akhtar Romani. The film starred Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Asha ParekhLaxmi Chhaya, Jayant and Asit Sen, among others.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra will next be seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film, directed by Karan Johar, also features Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
