Deadpool is a Marvel Comics character, but the movie rights were with 21st Century Fox and not with Marvel. That’s why the first two Deadpool movies didn’t see any cameos or crossovers of MCU characters. Only supporting characters from the X-Men had extended roles in the film. But now that Disney has bought Fox, Deadpool 3 is in development at Marvel Studios. it will see Ryan Reynolds retake the role.

As to whether this means MCU movies will be fodder for jokes for the Merc With a Mouth, Deadpool 3 writer Rhett Reese told The Post Credit Podcast: “How many movies have they given us? 25? 26? 28? Something like that. We now have a wealth of things to poke fun at… and Deadpool is a match [opportunist] so everyone is fair game.”

Rhett and co-writer Paul Wernick added that despite the move to the MCU, the film will still be R-rated and not be watered down. “Don’t worry about that, they have a lot of support for that,” the writers told Den of Geek, adding: “Now if it’s a particular joke, if we cross a line, we might hear on at one point, “Maybe not that joke.” But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing because it’s clear that we’ve been doing it separately from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and had their own even greater success. made it a marriage in heaven. The first Deadpool released in 2016 was a huge hit, making over $782 million on a budget of just $58 million. The sequel, Deadpool 2released in 2018 was also a critical and commercial success, grossing $785 million.
