The Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani lead JugJugg Jeeyo shows a good trend in his second weekend. After clocking in at Rs 2.80 crore on its second Friday, the film is up around 70 percent according to early trends, with collections expected to be in the range of Rs 4.75 to 5.00 crore. This is based on the trends for evening shows, which have shown a growth of 63 percent and with the night shows yet to take place, we expect the peak in collections to go north of 70 percent (an article on early estimates for the day will follow by 11 p.m.).

The jump rate is higher than what most city movies showed in their first week, and this is exactly what we expected with the movie trend earlier in the opening week. JugJugg Jeeyo was stable at low levels in the opening week and is now showing good gains in the second weekend, certainly suggesting that there is appreciation for the film in some segment of the audience. In the pandemic times, most city movies are gone from cinemas within a week and here JugJugg Jeeyo is finally a movie that defies this norm. The company is run by Delhi and Mumbai, and some places like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Kapur and Chennai also contribute to the biz by creating a good occupancy on Saturday.

It’s not a huge hit, of course, and the numbers are still about 15 percent below general expectations, but by the end of the run, it could fill the void with that mid-level hit (average/half hit). Due to the pandemic, movies have performed extremely well, so it was high time for a city movie to do business honestly. JugJugg Jeeyo’s nine-day total will be just under Rs 60 crore, and with another jump on Sunday, the film will be north of Rs 65 crore in its 10-day run.

As for lifetime collections, JugJugg Jeeyo has a shot at the Rs 80 crore mark, although a lot would depend on how it holds up on Monday, followed by the trend in the third weekend. As for foreign countries, the total collection of the Raj Mehta directory is about $3.5 million plus, and is expected to end up around $5 million. We’ll be publishing a detailed breakdown of JugJugg Jeeyo in a few weeks to decipher the film’s economics, but by the end of its run, stakeholders should be in plus by at least 20 percent.

NOTE: This is based on early trends and the final jump percentage may be higher or lower depending on how the night shows roll.
