The 29-year-old actor announced her pregnancy on Instagram in June, two months after she tied the knot with the actor Ranbir Kapoor. While many people flooded her feed with best wishes, many criticized her for embracing motherhood early in life. She was also the target for making a life-changing decision at the height of her career.
In an interview with PTI news agency, Alia said: “Everything a woman does gets in the headlines. Whether she’s decided to become a mother, she’s dating someone new, she’s going to a cricket match or going on vacation. For some reason, the eyeballs are always on women’s choices. What I want to do consciously is follow my heart and go with my instinct and feeling. That’s exactly what I’ve done in my professional and personal life and things have turned out beautifully.”
Speaking about some people’s reaction to her pregnancy, Alia said: “Of course I’m young, but why does that have to change anything? Why does having a family or having a child change my professional life? Different things. I’d stay and rather lead by example and action instead of paying any attention to nonsensical things For me the people with those opinions show where they are in life It says nothing about where I am In fact many decisions I have made in my life – singular, with no relation to anyone else – happened when it was least expected. You don’t plan great things, they just happen.”
She also said she’d seen a number of articles about her where people’s comments said, ‘What’s your problem? let her be’. Alia added that she feels the change “happens automatically and you don’t have to pay too much attention to it.”
Alia has several projects in the pipeline, including her Hollywood debut film Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot. She will next be seen in Jasmeet K Reen’s Darlings. Darlings, produced by Alia, Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma, will hit Netflix on August 5.
In addition, she also has Brahmastra Part One: Shiva with Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna. The movie will be released on September 9. She also has Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh, which is gearing up for a February 11, 2023 release. Alia will also be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa alongside Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif.
