Akshay Kumar’Raksha Bandhan hit theaters on August 11. New videos shared on social media showed fans of the actor celebrating his latest film by dancing in the cinemas while watching him on screen. Akshay was last seen in the historical drama Samrat Prithviraj, which came out in June. His other release of the year was Bachchhan Paandey, which came out in March. Akshay’s last two releases have not performed well at the box office and it seems his fans are leaving nothing to chance this time around. Akshay’s fans from different parts of the country are sharing photos and videos while advocating for the actor. On Thursday, when the film came out, fans could be seen turning movie theaters into a party venue, complete with song and dance.

A video shared to a fan page on Twitter showed audiences applauding and cheering for the actor as they chanted his name as he appeared on the big screen. In another video, also shared on Twitter, many of his fans could be seen singing and even dancing in front of the big screen while a song from the movie played in the background.

Fans who watch the film in the cinema are not the only ones who showered the actor with love. While the film was released on Raksha Bandhan, when the country celebrates the bond between a brother and a sister, members of his fan base gathered in Siliguri, West Bengal to watch the opening day of the film’s first show. Akshay fans shared photos of them with a poster of the actor with the words “Siliguri Akkians” on it.

Directed by Aanand L Rai, Raksha Bandhan sees Akshay next to Bhumi Pednekar in the lead. It also stars Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth and Deepika Khanna. Written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, the film revolves around Lala Kedarnath, the eldest and only brother of four sisters, who tries to fulfill a promise he made to marry his sisters in suitable homes.
