Lately, many young star children have made their way into the film industry, including the daughter of actor Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, producer Boney Kapoor and the youngest daughter of the late actor Sridevi, Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor and the grandson of actor Amitabh Bachchan, Agastya Nanda, among others. That’s why actor-couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol are often asked if their daughter, Nysa Devgan, would also follow in her parents’ footsteps.
While rumors of the 19-year-old making her acting debut have been circulating for a while, Ajay says she’s not out yet. “She is only a teenager. She didn’t tell Kajol or me what her ultimate career choice would be. She is currently studying abroad. If she decides to pursue a career in the film industry, it will be her choice. As parents, we will always support her,” said the 53-year-old.
The Lane 34 actor adds that premature speculation is futile. “These are bridges that you cross when you get there. You cannot discuss this a day too early or a day too late. It will be Nysa’s decision the whole way through,” Ajay said.
In Ajay’s case, it was his father, the late action director Veeru Devgan, who wanted his son to star in films. “My father had a dream for me. He wanted me to be an actor. So I’ve worked hard to make that dream a reality and I’m thankful to God, my fans and the blessings of my parents that everything worked out for me,” Ajay said, further expressing his desire to be like his father. He adds: “My father was a self-made man who became a legend. I’ve seen him work really hard to get to where he’s come. And until the end of his life, he respected his profession and his employees. He was also a family oriented man and he provided us with the best. If I can follow in his footsteps, I will be happy. It’s all I can ask for.”
