Aamir Khan has once again responded to the controversy surrounding the release of his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha. For weeks, many users on social media have been calling for a boycott of the film. Previously, Aamir had urged people not to do that and watch the film. For the past few days, the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha has been trending on Twitter. Many of the users trending this said they were angry with Aamir for his past statements about India and the depiction of religious icons in his films.

With the release of the film on Thursday, August 11, the actor has been busy promoting it. During a media interview in Delhi on Wednesday, Aamir addressed the boycott trend, saying: “If I hurt anyone in any way, I regret it. I don’t want to hurt anyone. If someone doesn’t want the movie see, I respect their sentiment.”

The actor did add that he still wants more people to watch the film. “However, I would love it if people would watch the film because it’s our labor of love. A lot of people have worked hard on this film and I hope people like it,” said Aamir.

Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the 1994 Hollywood movie Forrest Gump, which was directed by Tom Hanks. The Advait Chandan movie also stars Kareena KapoorMona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in his Bollywood debut.

During the media interaction, Aamir also revealed that he is very nervous about the film’s release and has not slept in 48 hours. He said: “I’m very nervous now, it’s been 48 hours since I haven’t slept. I’m not kidding; I’m not able to sleep. My brain is running at full blast, so I read books or play chess online and catan, I can’t sleep until after August 11.”
