After eight years in the industry, Prayagraj girl Aakarshika Goyal now feels more comfortable in the regional industry. She has made two Kannada movies, is working on her next movie and has also appeared in 40 Punjabi albums and several TV shows.
“I’ve done several daily soaps and reality shows, but the satisfaction I’ve gotten in the industry in the south and in Punjab is amazing. In terms of professionalism, remuneration and job satisfaction, I am very satisfied in the regional industry,” says the actor.
The Ajab Gajab Ghar Jamai actor added: “I would like to do more work in the south (industry) compared to Hindi. I have done TV here and experience that largely if you have good contact then it works smoothly for you. Also I have dealt with with pay issues. In the regional industry they only want a satisfactory job, but payments, working hours, terms and conditions are well arranged there. Now it is a good thing that the regional films get good pan-Indian viewers,” she says.
Aakarshika is in no rush to do Hindi projects. “At the moment I am not very fond of TV. I get offers for Hindi web series but they are in the ‘bold and exposure’ zone. I don’t feel comfortable if the idea is to create adult only content and not be guided by the question of the story. So I want to keep doing regional projects and only focus on good Hindi projects. It has now become a new shortcut and we have several examples,” she says.
Her pre-lockdown debut Kannada movie My name is Raja (2020), now released as After Peru Raja in Tamil and also in Telugu and Malayalam.
“I’m shooting for Kannada film Painkiller and also ready to shoot another South movie. Since the lockdown I have recorded 40 Punjabi songs with singers like Hassan Manak, Tanveer Gogi, Arry and Rao Sahab. I also have an offer for Punjabi movies,” she adds.
Bitten by the acting bug, she made the switch from the aviation industry. “I started modeling in print and TV commercials and then moved to Mumbai. My acting journey started with TV and I’ve done shows like Emotional Atayachar† Halla Bol† ghostly night† Love Dosti Dua† swim team and Savdhan India‘, says the actor who now wants to film in her home state. She says she’s in talks for a project in Lucknow.
